The Ester Volunteer Fire Department offers a Resident Firefighter (Live-In) Program to our members. The purpose of this program is to increase station staffing on a daily basis and decrease response time to emergency calls by having qualified firefighters in the station at all times. Ester Volunteer Fire Department’s Resident Program provides an opportunity for valuable experience at a community fire department, along with being a great way to save money! We provide a room at the station, along with all utilities.
You must be able to obtain the certifications listed below within six months of entering the program.
- State of Alaska Emergency Trauma Technician (ETT) or higher
- State of Alaska Firefighter I or EVFD Entry Qualified
- Completed EVFD Driver Training for Light Apparatus
- Residents are required to pull a minimum of 11 day or night shifts per month with one being on Wednesday.
